Dr. Thomas Duberry (Born August 15th, 1943 - ) is an American politician, journalist, judge, dentist, environmentalist, and trade unionist who served as a U.S Senator from the State of Cascade. He also previously served as a U.S Representative from Cascade's 3rd District, Mayor of Honolulu, and as a Cascade State Senator. Duberry currently serves as CEO of The Duberry Report, a multinational news organization with offices in the United States, China, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Duberry was a longtime member of the American Green Party, and led them to gaining 3 house seats in 2024, the most in American History. Despite this, he got his start in the Hawaii Libertarian Party, where he was their nominee for governor in 1980. After over 40 years with the Greens, Duberry left to create the Unity Party, which grew to become the third largest in the country. Duberry also briefly served on the Supreme Court, where he replaced Elizabeth Coin.
Duberry resigned all his posts in 2028 due to his declining health caused by Cigarette Usage, his advanced age, and him wanting to spend more time with his family. He currently remains retired in Hawaii, occasionally doing interviews and appearing on the Duberry Report to discuss foreign affairs.
Early Life, Career, and Early Politics (1943-2012)[]
Thomas Duberry was born on August 15th, 1943 in Honolulu to his Christian mother Viola Duberry and Muslim father Brice Duberry. His mother was a nurse and stage actress while his father was a businessman. He attended Hawaii State University with a major in Journalism. Around this time, Duberry also became a licensed dentist.
He began his career as a Trade Unionist and Environmentalist in Hawaii, where he worked with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union to organize strikes and union elections. During that time, he formed the Hawaiian Natural Beauty Protection Foundation, or HNBPF and raised nearly $50,000 to conserve land, alongside this he worked as a Dentist to provide for his family.
Early Political Efforts[]
Duberry joined the Libertarian Party of Hawaii in 1979 and was their nominee for governor in the 1980 special election, and was able to get 7.2% of the vote and win a majority in Hawaii, the most ever won by the party in a gubernatorial race. His campaign primarily focused on Limited Government and Left-Wing views such as a strong opposition to the Vietnam War.
In 1981, he left the Libertarians to join the Green Party where he was appointed to the role of lead editor of the Green Pages, a newspaper provided by the party, he held this position until 2011. He also helped expand the Green Party of Cascade during this time.
Duberry mounted a campaign for Cascade Agricultural Commissioner as a Libertarian in 1988 due to the Green Party's lack of ballot access in the state that year. He managed to win the Democratic nomination through a write-in campaign, but declined the additional ballot label. He received 41.5% and over 4.1 Million Votes in a large overperformance.
Presidential Success[]
Duberry was listed as a placeholder by the Green Party of Cascade during the party's 1996 and 2008 Presidential Primaries to ensure funding in the event no other candidates registered- the party did not remove him from the ballot despite his request in either election. He placed 2nd in 1996, and even receiving two delegates at the National Convention despite his endorsement of Ralph Nader.
In 2008, Duberry filed the need paperwork to run for president but declined a potential run in late 2007. The state Green Party had placed him in Hawaii as a placeholder on primary ballot and forgot to remove him. He ended up winning the primary with 42.07% of the vote- despite never campaigning. He promptly co-endorsed Ralph Nader and Kat Swift, and most of his delegates transferred to the two of them. At the final convention roll-call, Duberry received 8 delegates despite not being a candidate. This placed him ahead of Maryland Activist, Jared Ball.
He was also a key advisor to several Green Party presidential Campaigns, such as that of Ralph Nader in 1996, 2000, and 2004 along with Kat Swift's in 2008. He was one of several members to boycott the Nomination of Cynthia Mckinley after the 2008 Green Primaries, and endorsed Ralph Nader.
Electoral Success and Congressional Tenure (2012-2028)[]
Cascade State Senate[]
Duberry was narrowly elected to the Cascade State Senate in 2012, representing a district near Honolulu. He won the race in an upset against an incumbent Democrat, this victory gained him regional notability and marked him as one of the few Green Party State Senators. He was re-elected in 2016 by a slightly wider margin. During his tenure he worked to pass several Workers Rights bills.
Duberry did not run for re-election in 2020 due to health issues.
2022 U.S House Campaign[]
Duberry initially began a congressional campaign for Cascade's 2nd District early into the season. He received the support of several key democrats including Senate candidate Florence Val Valentine and future President Martha Holley. He dropped out after low polling numbers and a separate opponent entering the field. He officially suspended his campaign at an event in Pearl City, Hawaii, although he received some write-in votes from loyal supporters.
Honolulu Mayorship[]
Shortly after he dropped out, Duberry was elected Mayor of Honolulu in a special election following the resignation of the previous mayor, this made him become the first Green mayor of a major city in U.S history. During his tenure, Duberry proposed several bills to increase High Speed rail systems on the Hawaiian isles.
Duberry served as the House Sargent At Arms, and was noted for his role in de-escalating a conflict between Speaker Pro-Tempore David Calburn and Representative Liz Coin He also initially planned a 2024 Presidential Campaign as a Green, even doing an event in Iowa to boost his name recognition. This idea was later scrapped this idea and Duberry joined Phil Reed's Campaign, which later merged into Martha Holley's.
2024 U.S House Campaign[]
Duberry announced a second campaign for U.S House shortly after ruling out the presidential bid. His only opponent, McKenna Ramsdell, was discovered to be an alt of Bennet Reed. After she was removed from the ballot, Duberry was elected unopposed with 100% of the vote.
Tenure[]
Duberry was initially placed on no committees when sworn in, but was later placed on the Foreign Affairs and Veterans Affairs committees after speaking with Anwar McKenney- the House Democratic Majority Leader. Duberry wrote several bills including a version of the Green New Deal and the Malaysian Alliance Act. He resigned in September to take office as a U.S Senator after being appointed.
2026 Senate Campaign[]

Duberry was appointed to Cascade's Class 3 Senate Seat after Vera Kapetanovic resigned after less than a day in office. In the 2026 Special Election he ran for a full term and was opposed by Elizabeth Coin, a controversial former Senator. Over 500k was spent on the race by the candidates. Duberry was able to win in a landslide, getting over 60% of the vote. Much of his success is contributed to getting endorsements from all 3 major parties and having a populistic message. Coin failed to concede the race.
Tenure[]
Duberry became the President Pro-Tempore of the U.S Senate shortly after taking office. He was the oldest member of the Senate at 83 years old, but also one of the most popular- with his approval constantly around the high 80s and low 90s. He introduced legislation such as the Anti-Gavel Torture Act of 2027, Biodiversity Conservation and Habitat Protection Act, Strengthening Ties with our friends in Singapore and Malaysia. and the Recognizing the Rights of Pokemon and Furries in U.S Government Act. He resigned from his posts due to health concerns.
Political Ideology[]
Duberry is a self-described Libertarian, even being a former member of the Hawaii Libertarian Party, and has taken Pro-Choice and Pro-2A positions. Duberry also takes a focus on foreign affairs, taking a non-interventionist and diplomatic approach.
He has also been known to market left-wing policy to conservatives and Reedists and was briefly the Vice-Chairman of the far-right Reform US Party. Duberry also receieved the GOP endorsement in his 2026 Senate Bid, despite some claiming that he was the more left-wing candidate.
Legacy[]
Duberry was named the VP News 2029 Person of the Year. He is also credited with killing the two-party system, which held a dominant hold on American politics for over 200 years.

Historians view Duberry to be a relatively uncontroversial figure, as he had few scandals and held high approval ratings during his tenure. Duberry has also been used as a symbol of several political movements, as the Far-right Social Democratic Party, far-right Reform Party, and the Libertarian Party have used him as a symbol of their ideals, He faced mild criticism from the Socialist Labor Party for making deals with centrist and right-wing parties.
Personal Life[]
Duberry attended Hawaii State University and Stanford for his education, he had 4 children, with his late-wife, Sophie Castillo. He enjoys Classic and Experimental Rock, such as David Byrne. He owns the Duberry Residence in Honolulu and a ranch in Yellowstone. Duberry married Gears Braixen in 2027 after the death of his wife, Sophie Castillo, but divorced in 28 due to Duberry's declining health.
Duberry is a Muslim, and is the highest ranking Muslim official in U.S History. He has been very vocal about his faith and has spoken at several Arab-American events in Michigan, Cascade, and Magnolia.
After the dissolvement of the Unity Party in 2030, Duberry registered his political affiliation as a member of the "Independent Working Class Party"
