Snap presidential elections were held in Kazakhstan on December 31, 2029 to elect the President of Kazakhstan. This was the nineth presidential election since Kazakhstan's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. President Nathiel Djibuti of the Nur-Otan Party was easily re-elected in a landslide.
Three opposition parties (Auyl, Baytaq and the Pro-Russian Community Party) united under the candidate Ali Bektaev, who is also the leader of the Auyl party.
The election was brought by Nathiel Djibuti as being "the first democratic election in the country" in which in theory more candidates would be able to fill in the election, but plenty of potential candidates reported problems at registration, including supposed falsification of signatures, accusations of foreign support which disqualified them, and direct intervention of the government in some instances, with only Ali Bektaev being able to fill, who is sometimes considered to be a Djibuti ally.
While media reported high turnout in polling stations, it wasn't allowed to enter the counting of ballots.
