The 2024 United States House of Representatives elections were held on November 5, 2024, to elect representatives from all 24 congressional districts across each of the 8 U.S. states to the 119th United States Congress. In the 2022 United States House of Representatives elections, the Republicans had won 13 seats, compared to 10 seats of the Democrats and 1 seat from an Independent. Leading up to the 2024 elections, 2 Republicans changed their party affiliations to the Democratic Party, and 1 democrat resigned, being replaced by NPC Democrat, leaving the house with a 12D - 11R - 1I balance.
After the elections, the Democratic Party gained control of the chamber despite the outgoing president being a Democrat, Democrats gained 1 seat while Republicans lost 3 seats, aditionally, independent and third party candidates had strong performances, with 1 independent and 3 greens winning seats, all of them caucusing with the Democratic Party.
Aditionally, incumbent Speaker Andrew Reed got defeated in Amarillo 1st by Democrat Finn Merchant, he was suceeded by John Shake as the leader of the Republican Caucus and would became the House Minority Leader.
